2008 What's New

Foals 2008

Here is our new 2008 foal, a grey colt for Bint Lebleba (*GAF Mosaad X *Lebleba) sired by Treff-Haven Azrak (Sahlih X Treff-Haven Nasana). The second offspring for the pair, he made an early appearance, by 2 weeks, but hit the ground running, spinning and applying the brakes, as necessary, in an impressive fashion. Both sire and dam are of rare lineage with pedigrees containing no Nazeer (and no Babson), providing an important outcross to this very popular line. Not quite the filly we've been hoping for...but charming, talented colts aren't so hard to take either.

Arkansas Victory Challenge
Treff-Haven Arabians had 3 horses showing at the 2008 Arkansas Victory Challenge show:

TreffHaven EnGarde
The first show for gelding TreffHaven EnGarde, he received a red ribbon in Sport Horse Geldings in hand and a 2nd and 4th place in Sport Horse Under Saddle Open and ATR with Krista Greenich in the irons. Plus EnGarde was named Most Classic Head winner. His participation in the Sport Horse classes earned him a second place in both the Asil Sport Horse In-Hand and Under Saddle divisions awards. A terrific start for this beautiful gelding!

Treff-Haven Xarife
Recovering from an injury, Treff-Haven Xarife won his Sport Horse In Hand Geldings class (shown by Krista Greenich), earning the Asil sired Sport Horse in Hand trophy and prize money in this grouping, but unfortunately had to pass on the under saddle classes at this show.

AAHC March Open Show

Treff-Haven Xarife (TreffHaven Xplorer X TreffHaven Fazala) made his show ring debut at the March 22nd AAHC Open All-Breed show. He took all the excitement in stride and delivered some good performances for rider Krista Greenich as well as winning Sport Horse In-Hand with Kyle Redding at the lead. Great job to all of you! This 15.2 hh Egyptian sired gelding, is headed next for the Arkansas Victory Challenge show in April.

It's a pleasure to share the exciting news of Treff-Haven Lamir winning the 2007 Drinkers of the wind Performance Trophy sponsored by The Institute for the Desert Arabian Horse and Susar Farm, Inc. This award was given for the High Point Asil Arabian in the October 2007 Susar Open Horse Show. Shown by his owner Sarah Willis, this young gelding is just beginning in performance and has a bright future to match his rich heritage of athletes. Treff-Haven Lamir (Treff-Haven Emir X Bint Lebleba) is straight Egyptian, Al Khamsa and Blue List and from some very rare lineage carrying no crosses to the prolific stallion Nazeer - a line which dominates the "new" straight Egyptian Arabian breeding group throughout the world. Learn more about Lamir's rare background on the non-Nazeer page. Sarah and Lamir plan to look into Dressage, Eventing and Jumping for the future...join us in cheering them on! Watch for updates...

Nuke completed his 2nd AERC 25 mile ride with a 3rd place finish amongst a large field of contenders. He is coming along strong and finished in great condition too. Nuke's sire is Galaxy I (RA Jahim (Nabiel) X Etnasha) and his dam is TreffHaven Nageed (Nagsous x Naheed, a *Zaghloul daughter).
Update: Just in!!! Nuke has completed his 3rd AERC ride, a 30 miler, with a 2nd place finish and reserve in Best Condition, again in a large group of contenders. Check back for more news on this young stallion as he continues along the endurance trail.

2007 Highlights

Show Ring

Treff-Haven Leina (Nagsous X Leilaah) returned to the show ring for the Arkansas Victory Challenge show held in April. A past Grand Champion Mare, Leina added ribbons in Open and Amateur Halter and showed for her first time in Sport Horse Mares In-Hand, coming away with an excellent score and winner of the Asil High Point Sport Horse In-Hand Award!

Treff-Haven Leina

Treff-Haven Salina (Nagsous X Alidance) made her first appearance in the ring at this show also and won Reserve Senior and Reserve Grand Champion Mare (though not planned or really prepared to show in Halter) along with Champion Most Classic Head. This young mare drew much notice and appreciation from competitors and spectators alike.

Treff-Haven Salina

Treff-Haven Sabeel (Treff-Haven Emir X Bint Lebleba) a 5 year old straight Egyptian non-Nazeer stallion also attended his first show, participating in the Sport Horse Stallions In-Hand where he did very well. And with his recent training with BTC we hope to give him the opportunity to move on to Sport Horse Under Saddle in 2008.

2007 Foals

Bint Lebleba (*GAF Mosaad X *Lebleba) presented us with another beautiful colt. This one is the first for his sire Treff-Haven Azrak (Sahlih X Treff-Haven Nasana) and again carries some wonderful older blood up close in his pedigree. Having no crosses to Nazeer, he is a rare outcross bred individual. With a short dished head, wide between the eyes and a well-shaped arched neck of good length he's indicating he'll have a lot to offer. For entertainment (his and ours) this fellow enjoys doing sliding stops, rollbacks and many other manuevers thrown in for good measure.

2007 colt (Treff-Haven Azrak X Bint Lebleba)

Treff-Haven Aava (Treff-Haven Emir x GH Aatifa) foaled a Palomino Half Arabian filly for her new owner. Bred for the Working Cow divisions, the filly's sire is a young cremello QH stallion that has been doing well competing on the Ark. Reining circuit. We eagerly await photos of this exciting new addition and hear she's just gorgeous!

Training

Treff-Haven Sabeel is now going nicely under saddle after a several month start up with BTC. We hope to give him the chance to resume training later and prepare for Sport Horse Under Saddle and other performance classes in 2008. Sabeel and his brothers are among just a very few new Egyptian stallions with no Nazeer in their pedigrees.

Treff-Haven Sabeel

Back at home, Treff-Haven Leina and Treff-Haven Salina have been doing groundwork and started to take a rider in their training. Unfortunately their progress has been placed on hold while foaling, breeding and hay season takes priority for a while.

Congratulations New Owners

Treff-Haven Venus (Nagsous X Princess Alishaba), 7 year old grey, and Treff-Haven Aava (Treff-Haven Emir X GH Aatifa), 6 year old flaxen chestnut, straight Egyptian mares, now call Mexico home. We've received word that Aava has foaled a beautiful Palomino Half-Arabian filly for her new owner.

And several of the Treff-Haven geldings now have wonderful new owners:

Treff-Haven Alizeer (Treff Haven Xplorer X Aliama) makes his new home with Chris Bode of TX and meanwhile we've heard they participated in his first show, placing 4th in a large halter class at one of the Susar Farm Arabians Open Horse Shows in Denton, TX. These two have been busy getting aquainted as well as taking several lessons together at Susar Farm. Best wishes to the both of them!

Chris and Alizeer

Treff-Haven Ibn Naheed (Treff-Haven Emir X Naheed), a 5 year old SE gelding with no Nazeer, was awarded to Jan Cooper as High Point of the Decade winner at the Susar Farm Open Shows 2006 year end awards and the pair is already taking steps to become a future winning team. Click here to see the whole story.

Jan and Ibn's 1st ride

Treff-Haven Lamir headed to his new TX home in Dec. of '06. Lamir is one of 5 full siblings (Treff-Haven Emir X Bint Lebleba) who are new Egyptian and have no Nazeer blood in their pedigrees. Lamir's future plans include being a best friend, and dressage, hunter and jumping partner to his new owner Sarah Willis who has already been successfully involved in these fields and is ready to go for it with a horse of her own. It will be exciting to watch them go!

GLW Haven is pictured below with owner/breeder Genie Wunderlich (highly accomplished endurance rider with many successful and exciting rides under her belt including the most challenging Tevis Cup). GLW Haven has completed several endurance rides now and is headed for more. His two half sisters also bred by Genie have competed in endurance as well, with one of them, GLW Fayda Love (pictured below right), recently earning a first place finish together with BC on a ride and starting in 100 mile competition. Their sire is the (deceased) Al Khamsa, Blue List, Egyptian related stallion, Treff-Haven Hotai (Tai RSI X Ru Maroussa). All this great riding kind of makes you wish you could get out and join them, doesn't it?
